The Avalon Boulevard Traffic Signal Synchronization Project was initiated by Los Angeles County to enhance traffic safety, improve operational efficiency, and bring 32 signalized intersections—spanning both LA County and the City of Compton—into compliance with current MUTCD standards. ADVANTEC, serving as the prime consultant, conducted a comprehensive field inventory to identify system deficiencies and developed a Detailed Recommendation Report outlining intersection-specific upgrades. These included enabling time-based coordination and fully-actuated signal operations. Pre-design meetings with local agencies ensured stakeholder alignment, after which ADVANTEC prepared the full PS&E package in accordance with LA County standards. The firm also supported the County through the bidding process, provided construction assistance, and completed as-built drawings post-construction—delivering a coordinated and modernized corridor ready for long-term operational success.
