Mr. Ortiz is the Chief Executive Officer and Principal at ADVANTEC Consulting Engineers. He has over 30 years of experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), smart mobility, connected and automated vehicles (CAV), smart cities, systems engineering, broadband communications, and traffic engineering. He has led ITS projects for numerous agencies across the western United States. He is currently guiding clients in understanding the evolving Smart Cities and CAV landscape to support informed decisions on current and future ITS deployments.

Mr. Ortiz served on the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) International Board of Direction as Western District International Director and is currently a member of the ITE Transportation Consultants Council.

Mr. Ortiz also serves on the ITS California Board of Directon, the ITS California Partnership Committee, the Southern Section, the Annual Conference Committee, and the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Civil Engineering Department, Industry Advisory Council.

Mr. Ortiz graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He holds a Civil Engineering license in the states of California and Arizona. He is also registered as a Traffic Engineer in the State of California and is certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE).
