ADVANTEC has conducted a comprehensive Citywide Truck Route Study for the City of Rialto to evaluate truck traffic patterns, enhanced safety, and reduced heavy vehicle intrusion into non-designated local streets. The study included Average Daily Traffic (ADT) data collection for trucks at 86 street segments, a review of existing truck route maps, municipal codes, weigh-limit policies, and the City’s general plan. ADVANTEC conducted field verification of signage and weight classifications by driving the designated truck corridors, and assessed current operations for consistency with City policy. The final solution provided clear, data-driven recommendations on truck route designation, municipal code revisions, signage improvements, and enforcement strategies that promote livability and minimize truck impacts in residential areas. The final Citywide Truck Route Study Report with proposed recommendations was approved by the City Council in Spring 2022.
