FAIRVIEW ROAD TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYNCHRONIZATION PROJECT
City of Costa Mesa
ADVANTEC delivered the Fairview Road Traffic Signal Synchronization Project for the Cities of Costa Mesa and Santa Ana under Orange County’s Measure M2 program. The project involved developing and implementing synchronized signal timing across 31 intersections along an 8.5-mile corridor from SR-22 to Newport Boulevard, with the goal of reducing travel time, vehicle stops, fuel consumption, and emissions while improving traffic safety. Enhancements included the design and installation of a new fiber optic network in Costa Mesa and wireless radio communication expansion in Santa Ana, along with controller and cabinet replacements and CCTV camera installations. The project successfully achieved inter-jurisdictional coordination with Caltrans and the two cities, resulting in a 15% improvement in travel time and a 20% reduction in vehicle stops during peak periods.
