I-105 Express Lanes Segment 1 PS&E
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority
LA Metro’s I-105 Express Lanes Segment 1 Project involves the accelerated preparation of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for the addition of two High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Express Lanes between I-405 and Central Avenue, covering approximately 6.5 miles within the existing right-of-way. Designed to reduce congestion and improve mobility, the project includes seven bridge widenings, new retaining and sound walls, and full tolling infrastructure, with seamless integration into the existing I-110 Express Lanes. ADVANTEC is responsible for the PS&E of all electrical, ITS, and tolling systems, including highway lighting, Caltrans Transportation Management System (TMS) elements, and tolling infrastructure such as gantries, radar, CCTV, and fiber optic backbones. The project also supports Metro’s Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) initiatives, including ITS coordination near the new Clippers arena. With strict funding deadlines under SB-1’s Congested Corridors program, the team delivered under an accelerated timeline to meet PS&E approval by May 2023.
