As part of the Proposition 1B-funded Asset Management Program, Caltrans District 11 is advancing improvements along Interstate 5 (I-5) from the international border to La Jolla Village Drive to enhance system performance through targeted infrastructure upgrades. ADVANTEC, working as part of the Jacobs team, is responsible for the preliminary electrical design and fiber optic communication connections required to support new on- and off-ramp vehicle detection systems, replacement of mainline detection units, and the installation of new Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras on both the mainline and ramp termini. These upgrades will improve real-time monitoring, data collection, and operational efficiency across the corridor.
