ADVANTEC prepared the plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for intersection improvements at Alicia Parkway/Marguerite Parkway and Santa Margarita Parkway/Marguerite Parkway in the City of Mission Viejo. The project was designed to increase capacity and improve traffic operations by adding dual left-turn lanes and widening existing Class II bicycle lanes to serve as de-facto right-turn lanes. The improvements included median reconstruction, full-depth pavement replacement, overlays, slurry seal, ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, and updated street lighting. ADVANTEC also provided traffic signal modifications, including new signal poles, countdown pedestrian heads, updated signal head alignment, and potholing for foundation placement. Additional elements included new signage per CAMUTCD and Caltrans standards, vehicle and bicycle detection, catch basin reconstruction, and landscape/irrigation enhancements that maintained the city’s existing theme while incorporating water-saving features.
