ADVANTEC Consulting Engineers is leading the signal synchronization of 34 intersections along Los Alisos Boulevard, extending from Valley View Street to Bristol Street and spanning six jurisdictions—Aliso Viejo, Laguna Hills, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Caltrans-controlled segments. The project enhances corridor-wide coordination and traffic flow by maintaining cross-arterial synchronization and optimizing greenbands through origin-destination (OD) studies, multi-modal traffic data collection, and analysis of critical turning and through movements. ADVANTEC is implementing special timing plans, including school flush operations during peak drop-off and pick-up periods, and recommending physical and operational improvements such as right-turn overlap phases, blank-out signs, and lane restriping. The effort also includes the development of a “toolbox” of strategies and coordination templates for future corridors and traffic networks.
