ADVANTEC-USA Donates 2,400 KN95 Masks to OCTA

Transportation Engineering Firm Helps Protect Essential Bus Drivers and Passengers from COVID-19

Leo Lee of ADVANTEC Consulting Engineering

Irvine, California – ADVANTEC Consulting Engineers, a California leader in Transportation, Smart Mobility, Intelligent Transportation Systems and Traffic Engineering, has donated 2,400 KN95 masks to the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) to help protect essential bus drivers and passengers from COVID-19.

The donation was initiated by ADVANTEC’s leadership team who learned about the need in a conversation with OCTA.  For many passengers, the OC Bus is the only transportation available to them to access medical care, food for their families or travel to their jobs.  Public transit is an essential service and the OC Bus continues operating current schedules, day and night, during the state’s stay-at-home order. Face coverings are required for all passengers and drivers, and often drivers need to provide them to passengers who don’t have them.

“ADVANTEC’s corporate responsibility centers around our guiding principle ‘Because we Care’,” stated Leo Lee, CEO of ADVANTEC and a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California. “We strive to help the public agencies we serve, not only in our daily work to improve traffic and safety on our roadways, but also in meeting the needs of the community.”

The masks were delivered to OCTA following consultation with OCTA and recognition of the high demand for masks. The OC bus team shared this in an email to ADVANTEC:

“We really appreciate ADVANTEC Consulting Engineers Inc, specifically Leo Lee, for the generosity.  As you know OCTA provides face masks to bus passengers, and we are using large amounts of face masks--this donation will help in this effort.”

This is the second mask donation made by ADVANTEC. The company donated 3,500 masks to the City of San Diego to help protect essential convention center staff and public safety officers involved with Operation Shelter to Home.  This project is protecting the health of San Diegans experiencing homelessness and transitioning individuals to longer term housing.
