REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS
ADVANTEC has a 25-year history of successful projects with strong partnerships which continue to develop as the Southern California region continues to innovate and improve.
Featured Projects
Adaptive Traffic/Traffic Responsive Control Systems Project
Provides inside widening of the I-15 to provide high speed rail service within the median of the I-15 from Barstow to Yermo. ADVANTEC was responsible for lighting, Transportation Management System (TMS), modification of existing infrastructure, and providing specifications and engineer’s estimates (PS&E).
D8 I-15 Desert Xpress West Segment 2 PS&E
Provides inside widening of the I-15 to provide high speed rail service within the median of the I-15 from Barstow to Yermo. ADVANTEC was responsible for lighting, Transportation Management System (TMS), modification of existing infrastructure, and providing specifications and engineer’s estimates (PS&E).
Traffic Signal Communication Master Plan
ADVANTEC developed a citywide Traffic Signal Communications Master Plan that includes an inventory of existing traffic signal and communications infrastructure, recommendations for up-to-date traffic signal and communications technologies, identification, and phased implementation of near-term to long-term projects, and a recommended asset management plan. The Traffic Signal Master Plan will be used as a planning tool to prepare the City of Escondido for future emerging multi-modal transportation technologies including a Traffic Management Center (TMC), fiber optic communications secured network, open architecture technologies, connected and automated vehicles (CAV), Big Data, integrated corridor management (ICM), Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), Mobility on Demand (MOD), and Smart Cities initiatives. The Traffic Signal Master Plan was prepared using ITS Standards and it will be based on FHWA’s ITS Architecture and requirements, including Concept-of-Operations and System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP). In addition, the Traffic Signal Master Plan will incorporate the vision of SANDAG’s 2021 Regional Plan to prepare the City of Escondido to enhance connectivity, increase safety and sustainability, and improve the quality of live in the region.
I-105 Express Lanes Segments 1, 2 and 3
This project consists of the preparation of Plan, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) for the addition of two high occupancy toll (HOT) Express Lanes on I-105 on an accelerated schedule between I-405 and Central (Segment 1), and also Segments 2 to 3. The project includes approximately 15 miles of widening within the existing right-of-way, involving bridge widenings, new retaining and sound walls, and new toll collection infrastructure, including tie-in to the existing I-110 Express Lanes. ADVANTEC responsibilities included the PS&E of all electrical, ITS and tolling infrastructure - highway lighting, Caltrans TMS (ramp metering, fiber optic backbone, traffic signals, CCTV, CMS, traffic monitoring stations), and tolling (fiber optic backbone, CCTV, detection stations, toll zone gantries, VMS). Project also included coordination and implementation of ITS elements as part of Metro’s Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) Project associated with the new Clipper’s arena.
Coachella Valley Smart Region Program
CVAG has embarked on a major effort to advance the development and implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems Programs in the Coachella Valley with an emphasis in the development of a valley-wide traffic signal interconnect master plan and signal synchronization of new and existing signals on the regional arterial roads. CVAG has acknowledged that the deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) will be an integral part of regional efforts to maximize highway and arterial system capacity, improve operational efficiency, improve safety, and improve the environment. The objective of this project is to reduce traffic congestion and its associated negative impacts by deploying advanced technologies to facilitate the region's local jurisdictions to operate their traffic signals and ITS efficiently and effectively.
Norwalk Firestone Blvd ITS
ADVANTEC was responsible for the preparation of plans, specifications and engineer’s estimates (PS&E) for ADA ramps upgrade, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) upgrades including, traffic signal equipment and detection upgrades, fiber optic communications, and traffic signal timing and coordination along Imperial Highway from San Gabriel River to Shoemaker Avenue.
